Will Israel Attack Iran's Nuclear Facilities?

Will Israel hit Iran's nuclear facilities on its own? The Jerusalem Post has a story on the issue and quotes a "senior source" as saying that if the United States is to take action it wont be until the spring or summer of 2008, few months before presidential elections.
This means that Israel might repeat what it did to Iraq's Tamouz nuclear reactor in 1981 that was bombed while under construction.

I don't know. This is what I do know.

Question, why did the Germans sell two German-made Dolphin submarines capable of carrying nuclear warheads to Israel?

It is part of Israel’s deterrence strategy. As long as Israel has nuclear weapons in submarines, Iran is assured that a nuclear strike against Israel would still result in Iran’s destruction. The submarines would survive and destroy Iran in return. Presumably, that makes everyone safer. Whether it works or not depends on how suicidal Iran’s leadership is. Since suicide that results in dead Jews seems to be popular in the Islamic world, there is no certainty Israel’s strategy will be as effective with Iran as the same strategy was for both the Soviets and the U.S. during the Cold War.

The subs have no particular offensive purpose. Their main function is to survive an otherwise devastating attack by an enemy and deliver a counterblow.

BBC - do you think Israel should wait until Iran attacks Israel with a nuclear weapon? When & how should Israel defend itself?
